The Subaru Ascent is only 2 years old, but it is already carving its spot among the leaders of the large-sized family vehicle class. Presented with great fanfare at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2017, it has since managed to find its way among the most popular practical and versatile utility vehicles in the Montreal and Laval area, able to fit an entire family.

In this ultra-competitive segment, the Subaru SUV is of course not alone, and must measure itself against more well-established rivals such as the Hyundai Santa Fe. One must however opt for an upper-range version of the Korean utility vehicle to have enough space for 7 occupants, while for its part, the 2020 Ascent features eight comfortable seats, depending on its configuration.

Comfort is ensured, in particular, through the slightly larger dimensions of the Subaru Ascent, which offers up to 5 more inches of wheelbase length. This extended wheelbase not only provides a more comfortable ride, but also allows for a greater interior space for the passengers.

Families from Laval and Montreal appreciate this increased comfort, which also does not interfere with the cargo space, the Subaru Ascent being slightly longer and larger than its rival, the Hyundai Santa Fe.

The advantage of the Ascent also carries under the hood. While the Hyundai XL relies on a 3.3-litre V6 engine that develops, it’s true, 290 horsepower, the Subaru SUV proposes instead a 2.4-litre 4-cylinder BOXER engine (i.e. horizontally opposed), paired with an automatic continuously variable transmission. It does cede a few horsepower of output, but the Subaru gains in fuel economy, rated at an average of 10.4 litres per 100 kilometres, better by more than 1.3 litre on average than its rival, even when driving in the streets of Downtown or the West Island!

Another good point, for the two vehicles however, they both offer an efficient all-wheel drive, and a group of in-car safety technologies, named EyeSight for the Subaru, which ensures the safety of families on board.

The 2020 Subaru Ascent is safe, efficient and has a good-looking profile, just like the Santa Fe. But the Subaru SUV offers more, for a more than affordable price. Come visit your Subaru Montréal dealer to test drive it and see how much the Subaru Ascent meets the needs of your family.
