A gasoline-powered vehicle that is highly energy efficient and almost non-polluting? It's possible thanks to Subaru's PZEV technology! If you're looking for an eco-friendly car but don't want to buy a hybrid, a Subaru PZEV model is the perfect compromise! Your Subaru Montréal dealer tells you more on this topic!
Subaru vehicles with PZEV technology (for Partial Zero Emission Vehicle) produce virtually no emissions, thus reducing your vehicle's ecological footprint at the same time. Smog-causing pollutants are nearly all eliminated, helping to clean the air you breathe. And while these vehicles are less polluting, they still don't compromise on performance, so you get a vehicle that performs AND is highly energy-efficient, with virtually zero emissions!
This Subaru technology meets the strictest air quality standards, such as those in California (the most stringent in North America). This technology also meets SULEV (Super Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle) tailpipe standards, which means that the vehicles have zero evaporative emissions.
How does PZEV technology work? It's simple: by modifying the molecular structure of the harmful particles using a catalytic converter with a larger and finer mesh. In addition, the Engine Control Module, by heating the exhaust gases, substantially reduces the emissions produced during cold starts, which are the most harmful. Finally, the fuel injection system on these models closes more tightly than conventional injectors to reduce evaporative emissions, while the dual-filtration air intake system features a tank with an active charcoal filter that absorbs hydrocarbon vapours.
